CiviCRM is powerful, but ease of use is always an area the software needs to continue to improve to have happy and productive users. That is why I really like these 3 extensions and highly recommend they belong on every CiviCRM install.
Recent Items Menu
Recent Items Menu keeps recently viewed contacts and other configurable entities one click away in the top navigation menu. For example, you can limit it to contacts, contributions, memberships and participants. You can manage this setting under Administrator > System Settings > Misc.
That means users do not have to keep going back to Quick Search in the top left just to find the same person or other search screen for the record you were recently looking at.
It is a small navigation improvement, but it makes CiviCRM feel faster in daily use.
Contact Layout Editor
Contact Layout Editor lets you customize the contact summary screen. Different users need different information.
A fundraiser needs giving history and relationship details front and center. A database admin may want all the fields; they’re easy to please. A volunteer coordinator may care more about activities, interests, and availability.
The neat thing is you can also add custom blocks with no code solutions built with SearchKit and FormBuilder data, such as giving history or recent outreach (activities) with the contact.
Instead of forcing everyone to use the same contact screen, CiviCRM can show the right information to the right people. You simply segment the user buckets into their respective groups.
Easy Copy
Easy Copy adds a copy-to-clipboard icons next to contact details like phone numbers, email addresses, and mailing addresses.
From the extension’s description:
Clipboard icons will be displayed next to each address, phone and email, so that they can quickly be copied elsewhere (instead of either clicking the inline edit, or tediously trying to select/copy before inline-edit is triggered). This applies mainly to the contact record.
Here’s the deal:
Anything you can do to make the user interface slicker is a win. Go ahead and install these on yours now if they aren’t already.
